The registration fee for participants includes conference attendance, conference proceedings, publication of one accepted paper in the proceedings, continental buffet breakfast, refreshments during coffee breaks, lunches, social program and banquet, as well as shuttle service between the hotel area and Rice in the morning and in the evening. (Shuttle schedule will be posted in a timely manner.)

The registration fee for Accompanying Persons includes social program and banquet, and optional lunches, as well as the shuttle service.

One-Day Registration for participants includes conference attendance, continental buffet breakfast, refreshments during coffee breaks, lunches, social event(s) of the particular day (reception on Wed, Jan 6, Space Center Tour and banquet on Thu, Jan 7), and shuttle service.  Conference proceedings are not included in  One-Day Registration, however, it can be optionally purchased.

Basic One-Day Registration for participants includes conference attendance, continental buffet breakfast, refreshments during coffee breaks, lunches, and shuttle service.  The social program and banquet are not included. Conference proceedings are not included in the Basic One-Day Registrations, however, it can be optionally purchased.

The Rice Only Package is offered to individuals affiliated with Rice University. It contains the same components as the Basic One-Day Package, with or without lunch.

Single extra tickets for the conference banquet do not include transportation to the restaurant and does not include shuttle service from hotels to Rice and back.

The combined package of the Space Center tour and banquet includes transportation as part of the entire Thursday afternoon / evening program, and box lunch on the bus. Buses will depart from Rice University at 1pm to the Space Center (approx. 45 minutes ride), from there to the banquet, and back to the hotels after dinner.

General conditions, WSOM 2016

  • Authors of accepted papers must register before 30 October 2015, and their payment must be received by this date. One author registration will guarantee the publication of at most one accepted paper. Maximum two papers can be submitted by the same first author. If the same first author submits more than one paper, a supplementary publication fee (as indicated above) is due for the additional paper.
  • Payments (see conference registration form) must be made at the time of registration. Major credit cards will be accepted, as well as cash for on-site registration. To inquire about the possibility of other payment arrangements (such as by bank transfer) please contact Phyllis Huitron at phyllis@rice.edu.

    • For payment by international check, only electronic checks will be accepted. (Physical checks take way too long to clear.) E-checks from authors must be received at least by October 15, 2015. If we don’t have enough time to process your payment by October 30, your paper may not be included in the conference proceedings. For more information see the registration form.
  • Cancellation policy: No refund will be made for registered Authors. Cancellations from non-author Participants and Accompanying Persons must be received by 15 December 2015, for partial refund. The cancellation fees posted above will apply. After 15 December 2015, no refund will be made.
  • The conference organization is not liable if a participant cannot attend the conference due to unforeseen circumstances, visa refusal, natural forces, strike or force majeure. The registration fee cannot be reimbursed in these cases.
  • It is agreed that the WSOM organizing committee and the WSOM secretariat, and their agents and officers, reserve the right to cancel at any time any, or all, of the programmed or other activities if this should appear necessary as a result of events which are beyond their control or which they cannot reasonably be expected to influence or for which they are not responsible. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, such events shall include force majeure, government or other official regulations, natural disasters, strikes of any kind whatsoever, civil, international or other crises, or any other unforeseen occurrence. Decisions regarding the necessity for such cancellation shall be taken by the conference secretariat, or their agents, at their sole discretion and shall be final.
  • The WSOM organizing committee reserves the right to refuse admission to the conference, or participation in any other WSOM activities to any delegate who is considered by the WSOM organizing committee to be a security risk and/or a disruptive influence on the orderly conduct of all aspects of the conference.
